Exam 4 + Comprehensive Final (M), May 5,
Exams and grading: There are 5
exams. Exams 1, 2, and 3 are scheduled during the semester, as indicated above.
Exam 4 and the Comprehensive Final are scheduled on May 5. I design each exam
to take about 50 minutes. The worst of exams 1, 2, and 3 will be dropped. For
this reason, there are no makeup exams. You must
take exam 4 and the Comprehensive Final on May 5. The Comprehensive Final weights 40 % of your
final grade and the other three exams each weight 20 %. Grading will be
straight scale unless otherwise indicated.
Problem sets: Problems will
be assigned from the section at the end of each chapter and from the Student
Companion Guide. These are not for credit but are intended to prepare you for
the exams. Additional practice problems may be assigned in class. There are no
extra-credit options.
